All retrogrades bring a “reconsideration” or other words that start with the prefix “re” in the matters of the sign and house the planet is transiting through. Retrogrades bring a focus inward and to the past as it relates to the present and future. It is a time when going back over things is a prominent theme. I always think of the Earthworm card from the Ted Andrew’s Animal Wise Tarot Card Deck when it is retrograde time. He talks about how the earthworm goes back over dirt making it fine and fertile soil. It is this going back over things that sets one up for fertile future experiences in the area of life being re-examined.
The retrograde transits bring planetary “opportunities” to strengthen weak links and set up stronger points of attraction for more enriching experiences. Often these “opportunities” come through some form of crisis, as they are often neglected for a long time and in a big way so Spirit needs to bring awareness in a way that sticks.
It is very important to note that although reexamination of major issues is common and indicated at this time, actually MAKING LIFE-CHANGING DECISIONS is not. More information will come throughout the transit so to take one moments insight and take action on it would likely be premature, as the retrograde promises we aren’t necessarily seeing clearly or all angles of an issue, especially on topics of love, beauty, and money.
Assessing, researching, working in the backdrop, experimenting without long commitment for things with low stakes, and in general “staying the course” during the revaluation is usually what is best indicated.
Venus Retrograde in Cancer/4th House:
The 4th house/Cancer is all about home and family. Childhood events are likely to come up as echoes from the past, for better and worse. Real estate, design, and other things related to homes are very likely to come up, as well.
A common way I have seen this come up is a family real estate issue, like an inheritance or other family asset that there is consideration to sell. It is a great time to research property values, do inspections, assessments, etc. but if you are the one holding the property, it is not advisable to sell it during this transit as often you are not seeing clearly about the value of the asset and will likely wish you held on to it or sold it for more.
For buyers with cash or very secure finances, many good investments can be found at this time but only if the “Buying during Venus Retrograde rules are intact.
Sometimes people get the urge to renovate at this time. It is not well-indicated to do this because you aren’t seeing clearly as it relates to spending money and the aesthetic aspect of design. Many a person has a spent a bundle on design projects during this transit only to fall out of resonance with their choices after the transit passes. It is a fine time to research anything about a future renovation or design project, though.
Lost love can also return to your home, like a lover or spouse to live with you. For those with relationships that are intact, the retrograde can return the ‘magic’ back to the relationship. Venus retrograde will definitely test relationships so if there are weak links, they will likely come up to be worked with again. Most of these issues stem from issues with parents and caregivers in childhood.
Cancer/the 4th house also relates directly to mother (although occasionally I have seen something with Dad show up here), so things involving your mother, your relationship to her, your experience as a mother yourself, etc. may come up to be worked with.
Some questions you can proactively address during or that may naturally come up during Venus retrograde through Cancer/the 4th house:
How is my childhood effecting/limiting/accentuating my current relationship?
Where can I apply forgiveness, for the sake of my own health and happiness? For the sake of others?
Does a family member need me? How can I have a healthy relationship and find balance while giving help?
Do I need help from a family member/member of my household? How can I be fair and balanced with what I need help with and honor myself and the other person?
How can I create more coherence in my home space?
How can I make money from past investments involving homes/houses/family money?
Summary/Resources for Venus Retrograde in Cancer/4th house:
~ Counseling, individual and family, especially those related to healing trauma/PTSD I LOVE the modality EMDR for quick and effective healing of trauma. This modality has been used with great success for PTSD for war veterans and now is moving into the mainstream for psychological treatments. You can likely find a practitioner that does this modality that takes insurance. If you call your insurance, you can ask them directly for EMDR practitioners that are covered in your plan.
~ Doing things to help the magic return to current relationships.
~ Doing simple and inexpensive things to home to improve aesthetics but no big money or big decisions. Clearing out and reorganizing is better indicated than new purchases.
~ Radical Forgiveness ~ a wonderful book/program by Colin Tipping is perfect for this transit.
~ The Presence Process - by Michael Brown is great for ANYTHING you are working on in any area of life - Do the 10-week journey vs. just "reading" the book.
~ the Ho’oponopono - a Hawaiian Healing Prayer - is a MAJOR Karma Melter - “I am sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, I love you”
